I would like to wish everyone and their families, a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

I can't wait to see the stupid criminals that the new year will undoubtedly bring out.

Speaking of which, you all take measures to protect yourselves, your loved ones, and your property.

Park in well lit areas if at all possible.

Do not get distracted by your cell phone. Facebook and Candy Crush can wait until you get home.

Do not be afraid to ask a store employee or a security guard for an escort to your car. In my years as a mall security guard, that was one of our jobs.

Look in the windows of your vehicle before you open the doors.

Look around carefully before you open your doors and when walking out of the store, make sure your car keys are ready, before you get to your car.

Once you are in, do not get out. If you see a paper on your windshield while in the car, just ignore it until you get home. Criminals have used this as a trap to get you back out of the car while it is open and probably running.

Above all else, please use common sense. BE VIGILANT! BE SAFE!

I have a lot more articles coming out in the new year and I want everyone to be able to read them. smile

Seriously though, be careful. The life you save, may be your own.
