It is 10PM in Kansas and the temp is 41 degrees F. Tomorrow it will be in the 60s and 2 1/2 hours south of here, it will be in the 70s. This is very warm for Kansas in December. The weather is supposed to change this weekend.

Yesterday it was partly cloudy, raining off/on and windy.
At night it was windy and raining off/on.
When I went to bed it was windy.
When I got up it was windy and the sun was partly cloudy.

I saw a sort-of sunrise around 9.30. Pink on the eastern horizon and then it got gradually lighter for a while, even some blue sky. In fact, all the trappings of a sunrise . . . except for an actual Sun, which didn't rise.
In Hammerfest it was around freezing, but very little wind, so lovely to tromp around in the snow in the crisp air. Back on the ship by noon and it was getting dark. Beautiful blue Arctic light, cobalt blue fjord, hills covered in snow and the lights of Hammerfest. Beautiful.

At night it was raining off/on and windy.
When I went to bed it was windy.
When I got up it was partly cloudy and windy.

Not too windy, but grey skies all day, and occasional snow. We saw a lovely display of northern lights in Tromsø last night. And a number of Geminid meteors.

It's nearly 2.00 p.m. and it isn't dark yet! We crossed out of the Arctic Circle this morning, but it was overcast and snowing so it was still dark. We've just sailed past the Seven Sisters, mountains formed by glaciers. They're covered in snow and there were clouds and blue sky behind them. (When I was here in October, we could only see the bottom of them, the tops being completely lost in clouds.)
Still heading south, might at last see the Sun tomorrow.

Saw a lovely sunrise sky in Trondheim (old Viking capital of Norway), but didn't quite catch the Sun. Lots of grey skies and on-and-off some snow, but fairly calm seas. And it was light into the early afternoon, not dark by one o'clock. Longer days as we go south. Bergen tomorrow afternoon. The temperature in London has been in double figures - wow! Heatwave!
