Is time really a great present to give? Absolutely, it’s perfect! Giving someone your time shows your love and appreciation. It also shows your maturity and caring spirit.

My husband Jeff and I recently celebrated our Wedding Anniversary as well as the 2nd anniversary of rescuing our dogs. We invited two of our best out-of-town friends, as well as our Columbus best friends and neighbors. We enjoyed five days together with great food, fun, and many laughs. We were also gifted time from Kerryl, Mike, John, Kelly and Terry in helping with cooking, clean-up, errands, and miscellanoeus chores. Their visits, time and help made a wonderful present. It inspired this week's article and conversation about the gift of time!

Excellent article Chel! When my son started driving, and would drive his sister to school, I was SOOOO happy!!! That meant so much freedom for me because I didn't have to get up and get dressed to drive them somewhere LOL!!

I was recently telling them how amazing it would be if they'd agree to babysit my mom and aunt once in a while - that would be the greatest gift ever!!

Deanna!

Thank you for the compliment and your story.

I honestly could picture you doing a happy dance as you watched the taillights disappear!

You also gave me an idea for a future article dealing with Care Taking.

Oh excellent smile

Honestly, my kids are uncomfortable with the idea of care taking because they feel very awkward around my mom and aunt. Though my mom has really regained a LOT of her mind and memories, my aunt continues to be a strange cookie LOL!! I just never know what's next with her. But I do believe she'd be on her best behavior with the kids cuz it would only be like once or twice a month.

But I really think they could get something out of it too. It takes a lot of compassion to be in that situation.

My level of frustration just comes from the fact that it's a daily ordeal frown But I have also gained a LOT of compassion over this last year.

Deanna - I understand. And, I often wonder what I would do if I had children here to help me. I went from one care taking situation to another very quickly. Although mine is not the same as your's, I get grumbly, and tired, and prickly about changing my schedule to include some of the things I have to do. I often feel scattered. smile

I agree, I think that compassion is extremely important whether care taking, or simply dealing with everyday life. I wish I would have learned more compassion when I was younger.

Chel
