Yesterday it was changing, foggy off/on and windy.

At night it was windy.

When I went to bed it was windy and the sun was getting ready to start rising.

When I got up it was partly cloudy, a little foggy, raining and windy.

Angie, I'm on the Hurtigruten ship MS Midnatsol. Currently an hour and a half out of Tromsø headed northeast. We saw the sun set yesterday and won't see it again for several days. As for weather, we've had wind and calm, and some snow, lots of clouds today. Yesterday late afternoon we crossed the Vesteralen and it was pretty rough.

Finished lunch at 1.00, peered out the window and by the ship's lights could see snow blowing around. It's completely dark. We're in Honningsvåg at latitude 71°N.

The weather is sunny and in the 40s-50s. That is warm for December in Kansas.

Kirkenes in the far east of Norway, about the same longitude as Istanbul. It's just after 11 a.m. and the morning light is the strange twilight that passes for daytime for several hours of the polar night. It's currently cold enough to snow and windy enough to be snowing horizontally. It will be dark by the time we've had lunch.

Mona, thank you for the updates. Your trip sounds wonderful. When you think of ancient days when people didn't have electricity the light of day in that neck of the woods had to be an ordeal.
