I had trouble coming in the opposite direction. I still remember making a walnut loaf that was raw in the middle even after I gave it more baking time. I was used to using volumetric measures, and the riddle was solved when I discovered that English measures are bigger than their American namesakes. So I guess the ratio was fine, but not the baking time! Rather than convert my recipes, I had somebody send me a set of American measuring cups and spoons.
