I am SOOOO excited for October to roll around, because I just LOVE watching the scary movies. However, I'm not in to horror movies when they are just about horror, and blood and evil and gore and splatter and yucky sound effects of sucking oozing things.

My preference is movies based on true stories of hauntings. So, our list so far is this:

The Conjuring
A Haunting in Connecticut
An American Haunting
The Haunting of Emily Rose
The Excorcist

I have already seen all these movies, and I LOVE them.

What's on your October Scary Movie List?

Adding to my list:

Practical Magic - yes, I know it's not a horror movie, but I DO love it around this time of year.

Insidious & Insidious 2

Okay, so I'm a little behind on my scary movie watching. So far I've watched the Sixth Sense (twice because I watched it on my own, then with family). AND Practical Magic, again, twice laugh Because it's so awesomely magical.

How about YOU? What scary movie have you watched this month?

Oh Chel, I just watched "Dreamcatcher." I really, really, liked it!! And I wasn't thinking I would LOL!!! Sometimes Stephen King, well, you know, he kills off everyone.

I did enjoy this movie though!!

And I haven't see "IT" in a long, long time. And you know what, I have NEVER seen the Shining!! I need to add that to my list too!

13 Ghosts is on my list too! I did start watching it the other day, but it was just a little too intense for the mood I was in at that moment.

I changed my mind to Practical Magic smile

13 Ghosts really is one of my favorites!! And what's so funny is that I've seen it several times, but I'm still always surprised at who gets killed LOL!!

I thought about reading the Shining, but I've got a lot on my reading list right now HA HA!!

I used to love reading Stephen King - the Stand was my very favorite, followed by the one with "Dragon" in the title.

The Tommynockers frustrated me!!! UGH! So, I never enjoyed that movie.

Does anyone remember the movie about the two young girls who find themselves in the world alone. One was a cheerleader. The other worked at a movie theater. Is that "The Last Comet"? I don't remember.

Chel, what do you think of the movie "The Mist?" I just recorded that to watch later.

I also plan on watching Sleepy Hollow!

Not that I know of. It's own story.

Deanna - the same here. I still get creeped out thinking about what happened at the end.
I was freaking stunned the first time I saw it. I wanted to rewind and fix it.

Donnie Darko

And, of course, I love the reworked “Mad World” on the soundtrack.

I kind of want to get a scary bunny suit for Halloween, but I’m really short, so it would look funny instead, lol.

I saw Pay the Ghost the other night. I thought it was pretty good. It left me wondering if it's based on any historical accounts.

Alice, really? I've been sort of on the fence about it just cuz it stresses me out so much to watch movies where children disappear. I am all for scary movies, even horror movies, IF they have a happy ending wink I gotta have that ending!

Lane, I've never seen Donnie Darko! HA HA.... you should go for that bunny anyway!!!

Oh I LOVE Corpse Bride!!

And I recently watched Sleepy Hollow for the first time, and I LOVED it!

Dianne, I've NEVER seen any of the Halloween movies LOL!!! Ever. Never, ever LOL. Maybe I need to give this one a shot.

Deanna, it's not really a horror movie, but I find it scary because I'm such a scaredy cat. The last horror flick I was able to convince myself to watch was The Others. I'm really curious about The Mist, though, now that you and Chel are talking about the ending!

Anyway, I highly recommend Donnie Darko. We'll see about the bunny next year! smile

My husband has had us watching scary movies ... I've never watched any of them, so this is a first time experience for me.

Deanna, Pay the Ghost did have a decent ending. I wouldn't say it was happily ever after, but it was "rewarding".
