When I was a kid, Halloween was a fun event. I don't recall associating a religious significance with it. Fast forward many years in my parish here, when we were teeming with children, we celebrated Halloween with a Catholic bent - dressing up as a favorite saint. We no longer do that; and now, for me, I can just skip Halloween altogether except that it is fall and now prefer to put pumpkins and perhaps a scarecrow out. Because of where I live, children dressed up in Halloween costumes do not come by trick or treating. I think the holiday was secularized a long time ago.
