Do you remember when this scandal happened? Senator Edward Kennedy drove his car into the water off of Chappaquiddick Island. He was able to free himself but unable to free his passenger Mary Jo Kopechne and didn't even report the accident until ten hours after it happened.

It became a national scandal and ruined Kennedy's chances for a 1972 Presidential campaign.
