I have found I have an interest in papercutting. Does anyone have any tips for a beginner. How to decide on patterns for artwork and which tools are best?

So I have been playing with paper cutting. I have really enjoyed it so far. I am having a problem understand negative and positive space. It has caused some unusual and unpleasant outco
mes.

My first experience with paper cutting was when I was teaching kindergarden. An office worker showed me how to cut paper letter shapes out of construction paper. From there, I cruised the library for books, old and new. From every book you will learn something. ALso youtube is great for visual tutoring.

There are some amazing papercutting artists out there! I've just spent most of an afternoon looking them up on the Internet.
