Hello! Please come check out the latest article from the Folklore and Mythology site!

The Ribbon Around Her Neck
Do you recall hearing the spooky folk tale about the girl with a ribbon tied around her neck? Why was this ribbon so important that she wore it every day?

Well, Robin, I certainly didn't see that one coming!

I hadn't heard or read any of the stories you mentioned, so this was all new to me. Good article.

Hello, Mona! I'm very happy that you liked the article! Thank you. :-)

It was a story that I could remember from being a kid. I had a great friend who would sit with me during our school recesses and tell many ghost stories! The Washington Irving tale, "The Adventure of the German Student," was really similar, but really not quite the same. It is a great story, but scary! After reading it, I find that I really like his writing style and I must read more of his short stories. :-)

Wasn't Washington Irving the writer of "Sleepy Hollow"?

By the way, I loved your telling of the tale in your article.

Yes, he wrote the story of "Sleepy Hollow" and also another pretty famous one, "The Devil and Tom Walker!" I thought it was pretty neat to see how after all of this time those stories are still around. :-)

And, thank you very much! I really enjoyed writing about it.
