Ghana has an economy that is growing faster than most other countries in the world and is riding the crest of the economic wave that is engulfing sub-Saharan Africa. The country has had an average economic growth of 8.5% in the last 5 years. This is mainly due to a growing middle class. Many Ghanaians would've taken their money abroad in the past, but analysts believe that the political stability the country has enjoyed in the last decade, has changed this. The new middle class are spending their money at home which is boosting, amongst others, the service industry. This in turn has produced a surge in economic activity, income and opportunity.

With government spending on education increasing, a rise in literacy will start reaping additional rewards in the decades to come.
