A charitable attitude can be nurtured by seeing the best in others’ motives and deeds - even when the consensus is against them.

Lovely and interesting article about charity and charitable meditation. I really liked it. We should do some charity after a month or a year.

Yes, Jennie, there are many aspects to charity and I think it purifies our attitudes and nature by holding charitable thoughts toward others.

Dear dear Susan,
In Buddhism this type of meditation is called Metta meditation,
or loving kindness meditation.

One who estimates you a lot.

Loong, thank you for letting us know this is Metta meditation - we need more of it in the world.

Blessings for good health,

Charity is a discipline of Love which lifts the other person up without allowing yourself to be brought down into a mud pit.

Easier in theory rather than practice -- Clinical depression has been my lot since shortly after 1976 -- but, hey, I try smile

Thank You Susan.

I have experience with this because my brother had a more volatile form and I a more passive one.

Try as I may, he still liked his mud pit better.

But, that is one form of the longsuffering of Love.

I'm not looking for brownie points here but the hereafter.

Peace and a clear conscious is a beautiful thing smile

I did my best to Love him out of his dilemma, and now he is with the hereafters.

The eldest is still with us, and is strictly materialistic.

Funny how strictly materialistic peoples absolutely hate and cannot understand those who look for spiritual things in life.

If you put spiritual things first, then the material seems to take care of itself.

Very odd and counter-intuitive.

But, Charity can be quite painful at times.

Burt, thanks again for your point of view.

I find having a charitable attitude gives me peace of mind.
