My rocking chair is making me happy tonight. Even though it is cold outside here in Spokane, my home is warm, the bills are paid, everyone is fed and put to bed. We had a wild family bowling night with children and grandchildren. My husband accidentally stepped in a lane and went flying head over heels and hit his head on the side of the lane! He has a 1 inch gash on the crown of his head, but he said he will go to urgent care tomorrow on his way to work. It needs stitches. Sunday is a bad day to get hurt, unless you want to pay the crazy fees at the ER. We try to stay out of there as much as possible. All in all, it was a good time, with a little bleeding, a few scraped knees and fodder for some good stories, now that grandpa is home in bed. I'm thankful he wasn't seriously injured.

Hi Ilyssa, the whole topic of 'Happiness' is fascinating, especially when one looks at how it's defined and experienced across the world. Many seek it all their lives only to find in the end that it was closer to home than they even imagined. (JOY)

JOY,
It would be interesting to know if the five important building blocks for well-being and happiness that are listed in my article are relevant to all people no matter where they live in the world.
Ah yes, "happiness is an inside job."

Loong,
I love that...good for the mental health quote thread too!

Today I am happy for being able to help other people. Sometimes the simple act of actively listening and showing concern can make a very big difference in a person's day and overall well-being.

What is happy in your day today?

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life."

I love that. Perhaps due to their transcendental meditation practice, the Beatles become existentialists. Very insightful.

Today is my son's birthday. We are having a very nice day with him with his favorite things to do (dinner and a movie) and his favorite Paradise Cake.

I am so thankful for him. Thankful to be his mother. What a great life experience.

Today is a visiting day. A friend came for a brief visit this morning and at noon, my cousin will be here to show me her latest creative projects. Then, we'll have lunch and then stop to visit my elderly aunt in assisted living.

Tonight is Date Night and while it will be low-key with a drive along the beach, I will love it because we spend a lot of time sharing existential thoughts and bonding while viewing the ocean under the stars.

I'm also enjoying a glass of chocolate soy milk. smile

SUNDAY is what is happy in my day. I can turn off my work phone and spend quality time with my family....slow, relaxed, focused!

How are you all spending your Sunday?

Half work, half play. Since both involve my family, it's all good. smile

Sunny but blustery day. Blow all the pollution away! Clear skies! Thank you, wind!
