Usually I do yoga right when I wake up, as the first thing before I even have my shake. I find if I put it off I just don't get to it.

Today though I had to get some origami flowers out the door so I did that first, and some email catch-up, before thinking about yoga. I almost didn't do it. I was getting sucked into work. But I finally stood up and went and did the yoga.

Wow, what a difference! Usually I'm sleepy when I'm doing the routine and it's a gentle stretching to start my day. This time I was fully awake, engaged, with a shake in me, and I felt strong and powerful. I could really settle into the poses.

It goes to show that one should try different things occasionally!

It is always a good idea to mix things up smile I used to do yoga at 7am and if I hadn't eaten in the evening I couldn't do the session as I got really dizzy - lack of energy and low sugar levels.

I had to alter my routine to different times on those occassions. I must say that I also enjoy doing yoga early evening as I am warmed up and the stretches are deeper than firsth thing. I use the mornings mostly for long deep stretches and waking up - ie tadasan and spinal warm up and tend to do a more integrated longer session later. It's finding what works.

Muscles are weaker first thing due to being inactive and laying down so it can take a while for them to warm up.
