Hello there,

Speaking of Container Gardening decor, what are some of your suggestions for sayings that one could use to enhance your space - whatever medium you choose - like plaques, flat stones, hand-painted balsa wood notices and so on?

Many are very well known and are almost cliche these days, but there are many proverbs and homilies that are not as used that others may like to learn about.

What of famous quotations that have become your favourites, one liners, bits of poetry, sentences from novels, words that make you smile or think or remember?

Of course, just because a saying is well known does not lessen its lesson! Like Carpe Diem (Seize the day) or Tempus Fugit (Time flies) or To be or not to be ...

I have some ideas to share, but let's see if you can add some of your favourites,

Cheers now

Hello Les and Everyone,

"Don't tread on me" is a good one except difficult when it comes to Chaffer beetles that are chomping up your rose leaves and all! Still if I could find some language speaking beetles then I would grow a compliant plant or two for them to chomp on if they would leave my others alone!

Here are some other sayings you could use ...

*** Please don't eat the daisies, just deadhead them!

*** Weeders required toot sweet! Apply within.

*** Welcome to my playground!

*** Anything that grows in this garden is supposed to be here!

*** ALL black thumbs are banished!

*** Frogs and friendly flies forever!

*** Patience is a virtue, Virtue is a grace, Grace is a little girl with mud on her face.

*** Though I am a plain Jane, please remember my name.

*** Faeries and Goblins are welcome as long as they behave themselves!

*** Birds, Butterflies and Bees - how easily you can get me onto my knees!

Now it's your turn again, add some of your favourites or tell what you have in your garden. Do you use sayings? Tree/Plant name tags or watering and fertilising instructions for reminders?

Tell us and I say thanks,
Cheers now

Hello anyone who is a born organiser!

This tickles my interest but am not sure I will be able to be this organised - as much sense as it makes.

I heard about a container gardener who has plain coloured labels she has made with balsa wood and painted in the four primary colours. I saw the/her labels in a store - so can only say what they do - haven't seen them in place or use though do not think that really matters.

Anyway she uses these different colours to keep her watering and feeding/fertilising needs for her different plants in check and as soon as she has watered, she changes the sign colour. Blue means she has just watered, green that the container is still moist enough, red for one 'watering' to go and yellow to water now.

Do you have a system that is similar? Would be interested if you do. How do you remember when to feed? Do you have anything more complicated than just once a month around full moon time?

Cheers now

*** This is your last chance to bloom! GOTTA earn your keep!

*** Birds Bathing ... Modesty rules!

*** Bugs are welcome to go next door!

*** Seed packet lied! I tried! It died!
