I wrote this for the Dogs site, but thought it might be a relevant read for everyone here, too... and if one person reads it and decides to report a case of animal abuse, it's completely worth the repost.

Recognizing Animal Abuse and What to Do

Thank you for post, it is vital information. Please feel free to post or share anything you feel may help an animal or for that matter a person dealing with animals. Animal abuse rises my blood to the boiling point.

Never - ever folks feel guilty about reporting abuse! It is criminal. Anyone that abuses an animal or child has some serious screws loose.

Thank you Debra!

Thanks for the bump, please feel free to share the story wherever!

So many people don't want to get involved... especially when it's abuse in the home. But we're their only voices, and if we won't help them, who will!

Thanks for spreading the word!

A dream - with enough awareness animal abuse and child abuse could become a thing of the past? Especially, if people were willing to get involved!

No animal deserves to be abused. A good way to help in dog and cat abuse is to get your pets spayed/neutered, so there are no more unwanted dogs and cats that can't find homes. It is so sad walking through the Humane Society and seeing all those lonely, desperate faces wanting a loving home. I adopted two adult cats from the Humane Society last year. One of them slipped out the door last Dec. and I posted signs everywhere and contacted everyone. In the meantime I found a cat that someone thought was mine, but ended up not being him. I kept him and got him neutered, but my lost cat was found hit by a car a few weeks later. Even though my lost cat was microchipped I still couldn't find him! He was only a short distance away. I had even put out a humane trap for him. Is crazy how much effort us animal lovers will go through to find a lost pet while others treat them as though they are nothing.

Animal abuse makes me SICK! Even neglecting helpless animals makes my heart absolutely sink so I volunteer at nearby shelters but most importantly: I don't keep more pets than I know I can reasonable provide and care for.

Good for you. Always support your local shelters in anyway possible. Especially, donate locally instead of the huge organizations that just don't get your donations to where they need to go!

LOL, yes I was wondering if I was in the wrong forum as I had responded to this same post in the Doggie Forum.

Animal abuse in any form is not acceptable!!!

Glad to see you guys are spreading the word. This always helps...

As stated in the Doggie Forum - I would be in jail every day if I worked for the local animal control. Sorry, but animals are like humans for me. Sometimes I like them a lot better than I do people wink
