Do you have a favorite Indian Cricketer? If you do, who is it and why?

It has to be Sachin Tendulkar, Preena. He is probably the world's greatest ever batsman, but also seems to be a thoroughly decent and spiritual human being.

Although he had a relatively privileged background, he worked exceptionally hard from an early age to acquire his skills, and despite a bit of a 'wobbly' as far as performance goes some years ago he seems to be back to form now, so hopefully he has a few more years of playing left before he retires.

Have only ever seen him play on TV, but even then his personality comes over.

Interesting if he actually does decide to become an active member of parliament, no doubt he would have a strong following simply by virtue of who he is, but given his character he would use it for good.

Hi Francine!

Yes you are right, Sachin is India's best cricketer and a legend for all time. I too like his human side which never altered one bit in spite of his fame. I remember reading an account of his bench mate at school where he says Sachin accepted to come for his house warming when invited even though he was a celebrity and did keep his word. I guess it is hard to come by famous personalities who remain humble and Sachin is a great example.

I know some other cricketers too deserve special mention. Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri are legends of Indian Cricket and each of them is a specialist on the field. It is their contributions that hiked up India's position in International Cricket and the current players are keeping this up, though with occasional set backs:)
