Hello Amy,

Back again with resources for your state at the attached link. They have services for kids that just needs to vent their emotions out. They also provide camping, winter and summer activities, mentor programs, as well as counselors and it's free. They even have services for adults if they are interested. Click on the link listed. I would love for you to keep me posted. Remember it takes time and patience - which you will gain over time as well. Give her a big hug from the daughters site and encouraging words from yourself! Good luck! And keep me posted! Thank you for visiting this site, drop back by to give suggestions to others for other topics as well!

Interesting how you say she makes herself go numb, she does seem to me to be quite emotionless, as if nothing effects her. There are no Thank you's, no excitement over anything, no apparent disappointment. I talked to her Dad last night, we will get her into counseling asap, by herself. And the fact that her little brother is still with their Mom has got to be hard on her, she's told me numerous times that the Mom likes her brother more. Poor kid....she does need lots of hugs.... Thank you :)

Thank you for your post :) I think time, counseling and love will do wonders for her. I think I will be able to be more patient and understanding knowing that she has gone through some sort of abuse and not just thinking she's just a lazy, weird kid. Thank you!!

Hey Amy,

Thank you for sharing your situation with me, it will take time. The words that she speaks are only hurt words. She is hurting so she wants to do nothing more than let you feel her hurt - and in turn she just wants to be loved. I think Easter Seals will be able to give her all that she needs for free. When you get a chance check out some of the articles it will give you a little insight into her world. Even the part about hygiene and her personal space. Keep in mind this could not have happened at a better time because her hormones are all over the place because of her monthly cycle either has begun or will be beginning. She has a lot going on and when that happens - careless, inconsiderate, mouthy(having that last word), augmentative all become her friends. Neglect, abuse, care, and mental challenges are all bad mixtures for soup and yet you have it. It can all be turned around and it looks like you are headed in the right direction. Again drop back by and update me as well as giving tips to other parents as they drop in. Each parents experiences can help another. What won't work for one will be better for someone else. I think you'll make a good mom - you are not a replacement but yet another mom/support and nurturer for her. Good luck! And thanks for stopping by!
