Living in a theistic and religious society, I've heard many say Whitney Houston, who died at 48, is finally "at peace." I have to say I liked her voice more than her music, but her career has provided a sort of soundtrack for so many of our lives. I found it sad that her life fell apart so dramatically. She seemed to squander her amazing voice, and lived her later years in such turmoil. For that reason, I see why so many like to think of Whitney Houston in some sort of afterlife, free from suffering and misery. But it's hard for me as a nontheist to imagine this. I have a stronger belief that she is no longer conscious. So, yes, there is the absence of suffering, but simply as a byproduct of her nonexistence. So sad. So many advantages in her life--beauty, talent, and prosperity. Love. Perhaps not enough love for her self.

Hey Potpie ~ I have to agree totally with your post.
She was an amazing talent. So very sad that she lead such a troubled life. Rich in talent..rich in monetary terms, but that doesn't mean a thing if you aren't happy living in reality.
She's gone....but not to a better place...unless ya think that six feet under is a 'better' place.....not me. When y'er gone, y'er gone. Period.
