YouTube completely redesigned my channel. I was a little confused at first but then I realized how much cleaner the new channel layout is.

You have 4 design options to choose from including Blogger and you can still customize your background and colors and other stuff. I love this upgrade. Makes my channel look more like a site which is funny since I chose the blogger option that features all your newest content below your featured video and channel plus playlists or other stuff along the right.

They may have updated everything. I think the search result pages look different too. Very minimalistic I think.

I noticed that too about a week ago. Seems that is one of their main criteria now for awarding top search ranking. Your site has to look fresh and be current and the less cluttered and less ads the better.

They are coming down hard on sites/blogs with ads plastered all over the place, especially if pushes the content way down so you have to scroll down to skip past the ads. I'm so glad I never plastered my main page or blog with many ads and kept it to a minimum on other pages too.

I'm glad to hear about that, it was driving me nuts a few months back. I was blogging about movies and every time I tried to find official trailers I'd find these sites that would post a 2-second video advertisement to go to such and such URL of their business, it felt like a bait and switch.
