One thing I gladly pay full price on are the right bras. Being comfortable and not tugging at the things if worth gold to me. smile

Sometimes food items are something I will spend full price on. There is always couponing and I do like the store brands (especially if I know it is the big name brand with a different label). It has been said that the bargain stores (even $1 stores) can be pricier than the regular supermarkets.

Hi Robin. It is true, one has to KNOW how to do the coupons and the dollar stores correctly, to save money. And it is time consuming!

I find that creating a Price Book is the best way to know exactly what is a good deal without pulling my hair out over it.

I think coupons are more popular in the US than they are in the UK. And for us dollar stores would be things like Poundsaver or Poundstretcher (although in Scotland one that seemed to thrive was called Nickel and Dime) - these type of stores seem to be thriving in the recession.

Jilly cna you explain more about how to create a Price Book (or provide a link).

I had not thought so much about the UK and coupons. I wonder how big coupons are around the world in general?

Asha, glad you asked; let me get my article link on making a price book for you... make a price book for food shopping

I think it might be fun to start a forum price book here! let me make a new thread just for that, and we can all add our best prices to it. That way we can all learn from each other. Even if someone's prices are in pounds (not dollars), it would still be interesting to see what someone considers a good deal.

Although I coupon ALWAYS there are a few things that I will pay full price for. For example, macaroni and cheese...I will only buy Kraft! lol..I know that's funny but I haven't found a store brand yet that compares to Kraft.

Thanks for the link Jilly - an interesting article. This is the first time I've heard the term Price Book - seems a good idea. Also I like the idea of listing the things you know you use regularly, particularly those that are non-perishable or can be frozen. So for me that would include things like soya milk, rice milk, oats, tinned tomatoes, pulses, marmite, soya mince/chhunks, Marigold vegetable stock, rye bread etc. I'll start a price book for some of these items - I often find best deals are on 2 for 1s. Also I find that as I don't have a car I have to think about what I can manage to walk home with!
