This past week a childhood friend lost her life. She was shot in the head and dumped in the woods by a man that claimed he loved her. Yet, he was abusive to her in more than a physical way. She was in this relationship off and on for 8 years. Her close friends and family warned her and encouraged her to leave him alone. That was her plan, but she never made it. The man is now under arrest. Few people know this, but it was discovered that this same man was responsible for the horrible attempted murder of another young lady I know a few years ago. He beat this young lady so badly, that every bone in her body was broken. He then threw her out a moving car, leaving her for dead. She survived.
We cannot stand in a place of judgment, only love. We do not know why people stay in these relationships; the reasons vary. However, we must never give up on them, and we must be strong enough to do all that we can to help. It just may save their life.
