I pulled out an old silver choker (flat and plain) and it was pretty tarnished so I cleaned it with that jewelry cleaner that you submerge the piece into and it's better but not as shiny and beautiful as when I bought it. What is the best way to clean silver?

You will need: a shallow bowl, baking soda, aluminum foil, warm water & a soft brush. Place the foil in the bottom of the bowl and then add your jewelry. Cover with baking soda, and fold the foil over the jewelry making a little pillow...don't close it off completely because water won't be able to mix with the soda. Pour warm water over the entire pillow and let set for a couple hours. After that time, remove everything and rinse off the jewelry while gently brushing away any dirt. You might have to do process over again depending on how tarnished it is.

Put a sheet of aluminum foil in a pan and add 2-3 inches of water on top of it.

1 tsp of salt

Bring the mix to a boil, add the silver and let it boil gently for 2-3 minutes. Make sure that all the silver pieces are covered by the water. Rinse, buff, and dry.

You can buy silver cleaner at the grocery store,and it usually comes with a sponge inside so you can clean it.....

i heard some good ways to get the silver jewelry as new as before. that's to put a piece of tinfoil to the bottom of boiled water, and then put the jewelry on the tinfoil. after several minutes, the jewelries are as new as before.

They use ultrasonic cleaners, a machine that cleans all kinds of jewellery: rings, chokers, bracelets but especially jewellery with many corners and edges, such as diamonds. Hi, You can also use toothpaste to clean tarnished silver. Don't use harsh, abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch the silver.

Honestly I would just suggest taking it to your local Jewelry store, any store I have ever been to will clean your jewelry for free while you shop around.

I think toothpaste is best to clean the jewelry. it is harmless also. i would suggest you to use this :)

If your jewellery is silver only, without gems, and you only need to remove dirt build-up on untarnished jewellery, you can use mild soap in water and a very soft toothbrush. The toothbrush really needs to be very soft as silver scratches easily. You could also use a soft artist's brush. Make sure you pat your silver jewellery completely dry before storing. Some sites suggest to use toothpaste as a silver cleaner. This is fine for some silver items, but on jewellery this can leave scratches and I advise to use this method with caution.

Hey I suggest you to only use jewelry cleaner.

Take some lime and salt and rub it on the surface of silver item, then wash it with normal water. It citricus content in lime removes all dust and rust over it and also give a shiny look to it. !!!! I have experienced this many time and it really works !!!!

The most economical way is to use toothpaste or salt for cleaning silver. Also, you can dip it into vinegar and wash it after 15 minutes. Or using silver cleaner would be much easier and safe for your old silver choker.
