BellaOnline Forums Travel and Culture Alaska Tourism Season Begins!

It has begun! Tourism season. That means I'm one step closer to my trip in June! Anyone have a trip planned this year?

We are actually giving some thought to buying a camper (we need a new truck anyway ... and a camper can be removed when we aren't using it) so we can do more traveling around this great state of Alaska.

I'm hoping to travel to Valdez (the drive to and from is the best part from what I've been told) ... and then we may just head on down the ALCAN to visit friends in the "lower 48" for a few weeks.

Have you driven the ALCAN yet? Now THAT is an experience! It's a great way to dive in to the "Alaskan Experience" for those not on cruise ships or airplanes.

Hey Deb,
I got to travel a portion of it, although the bus driver did the hard part. I got to just enjoy the view. This was on my second trip and I sure did fall deeply in love with Alaska.

I know what you mean, Dawn (smile). I met an Alaskan guy in 1997 while I was living in the Upper Peninsula of MI. We've been married (and living in AK) for nearly 14 years now. I don't see ever getting tired of it.
