I thought you would like to send letters to our wonderful soldiers.

Hello Friendly Gal!! I have to say in all honesty that I am not a proponent of war. Having said that I will ad that my heart goes out to these courageous people and we need to do whatever we can to protect them. Maybe we can form an adopt a soldier program in this country so each family participating can have the name of a soldier and keep them in their daily thoughts and send them energy and courage to make it day to day as some of these kids are scared to death to be in a foreign land doing what they do. There are certainly more families in the country than soldiers so they could all be kept in someones heart. Maybe some over there have no one back home that thinks of them. Maybe now they would.

I so agree with ancientflaxman.

Adopt a soldier and keep him/her in our hearts and prayers daily.

Adopt A Soldier - This 501(c)3 organization has been around a while. There are several other organizations which send care packages to our service personnel.

I wish it were as easy as during Desert Storm. Back then, we could send letters and packages addressed to "Any Soldier." We can't do that anymore for security/safety reasons. I wrote several letters each week and was surprised with all the guys who wrote back. I still have every one of those letters and cards and was fortunate to meet, in person, one of the soldiers I met through the mail.

Jane, that is so wonderful to have met one of the soldiers you communicated with. You made a difference in his life, and all the others you wrote to, one of caring and honor.

What a wonderful box of treasures you have with their letters.
