That's a great question! It can depend on your coloring. For example, I have very fair skin. If I wear red lips, I downplay the rest of my features so I would use a pale pink (Benefit Dandelion looks lovely!)or more of a wine color. Rosy or peach can work well if you have darker skin-I deinitely recommend Nars Orgasm. As always in makeup, you can't go wrong with neutrals. Definitely don't overdo the color or attention will be drawn away from lips; keep your blush sheer.
One thing that you can do though is add a bit of shimmer. After applying my blush, I dab a small bit of shimmer on the very top of my cheekbones and blend-you can get shimmer/highlighter products in all prices. Wet n Wild MegaGlo is priced for under $5.00 while Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Blush and Highlighter is under $15.00 at the drugstore.
