Over the next several months, I'll be doing a series of articles on different decorating styles. If you have a favorite style, let me know what it is and I'll include it in my list.

Hi Donna:

Yes, it is Ms. Senior Moment (lol) = not quite understanding your question.

When you say "decorating style" - what do you mean? As you see I am NEW to this forum.

Thanks a bunch smile

Hi Angela and welcome to the forum. smile I'm happy to provide clarification.

What I mean by decorating style is the look and feel you are going for when decorating your home. Casual? Formal? An eclectic mix of styles? Or perhaps something more specific like the styles listed below:

Asian Decor
Contemporary
Cottage Style
Farmhouse Country
French Country
Mediterranean
Moroccan
Retro
Rustic
Southwestern
Traditional
Victorian

I'm planning to do a series of articles that define the more common decorating styles today. I'm looking for feedback on those that my readers prefer or would like to learn more about.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have more questions.

Hey Donna:

Let me see, my boyfriend does the decorating and I would say he loves the "African Art" museum set up.

And I am serious. EVERY wall has something on it and EVERY shelf and spare spot on the floor has something. Thank goodness it is just us and the 2 dogs (who know not to lick or touch anything/lol)...

Great topic smile

I decorate in country style, along with western style. I just love it, and it gives friends a friendly warm welcome feeling.

Thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it! I will be writing articles on each of these styles as well as many others. Angela, I'll be posting one on African Safari style later this week. Rosie, I adore (and specialize) in cottage style decorating. PJK, it's wonderful you have found a style you love - can't get much more welcoming than country!

In the past, I loved shabby chic country cottage and my husband loved modern. Yikes. So we sort of ended up with what I called eclectic boring or post garage sale. LOL.

But today, we agree upon a blend between Asian and American craftsman. A very good marriage.

I think it's interesting how decorating can evolve within a home and how tastes can change with time. When we were first married I was very into the rustic log cabin look and fall colors. Then in the 1980's I went for the whole country mauve and blue that was so popular. For the past 7 years I've loved garden cottage style. But I could easily go for French Country or coastal, too. And, I still wouldn't mind having a little rustic log cabin on the side, lol!
