The other night I was given a late night appointment to see the doctor about my painful earache.
After collecting my prescription I drove home, parked the car and started to walk to my house. Then I had a thought. Did I lock the car? I turn and walked back to the car and as I did so I noticed two men wearing hoodies jogging towards me.
Before I knew it, as they ran past me, one of them grabbed my handbag. Luckily he also caught hold of the carrier bag I was also holding. It ripped and a bottle of fabric softner smashed to the floor. They ran off.
I stood there for a moment taking in what had happened surrounded by the beautiful fragrance of Orange Blossom and White Linen.
When I got indoors my son asked me if I was okay. He had heard me shouting in the street... 'Ladies hold on to your bags there are muggers on the lose.'
I was okay only the fingers on my left hand hurt. I had not been expect this to happen so they could easily have snatched my bag, but the grip that held on was so forceful it bent all of my rings.
God sent his angels to protect me and my antibiotics that night. Of that I am sure. It all happened so quickly but the one thing that stands out in my mind is my grip on those handles. It was like iron. I just didn't let go. The hands of the angels held it firm and I kept my precious tablets which had just cost me 7.80p!
Also if I hadn't turned around, to check I had locked the car, they would have come up behind me and they would have taken me by surprise and I may have let go of the handles.
Peace
