Hi Everyone,
I am also trying to remember the title of a romance novel, so i'll just tack my post on the end of this lady's thread and hope for the best :)
It's a Regency Era romance. A girl grows up in the house of a Duke (or earl or whatever) she's the daughter of their cheif. She's the frequent playmate of the 2 sons of the duke. She goes off to school and comes back some years later all grown up and the younger son takes a fancy to her. The older son is now the duke and he buys her off. Her father dies, and she goes away. She somehow becomes a chief in her own right, specialising in cakes/pastrys. Time skips ahead to some years later she goes to London and rents a shop to set up her own cafe. She is particularly taken with the lovley modern kitchen which was done up for the previous tennant. Turns out the shop belongs to the duke who is living in the flat beside hers while his house is being reno'd. The younger brother signs up her company to cater a series of charity functions. But then goes off with his betrothed-to-be without telling the duke he's signed her on. She has to go to his office, which might be a shipping company? and has it out with him (the duke) He eventually realises he loves her, but won't accept her cause he's a snob and she's in trade. There's a scene where she's leaving a do she catered and someone took her overcoat and the duke tells her off cause its raining. Another one where she's on the verandah at night not knowing he is as well and he's watching her. Throughout the story one of the ovens is playing up and nothing comes out of it right. In the end he's at a dinner party, she's the caterer again. He declairs to all that he loves her and they end up married.
Its not a stand out book, just a lightly entertaining one.
Does it sound familar to anyone? Even if you can remember the characters names, can look it up in my library program by them.
Thanks
