Breast cancer this year! Early detection will save your life. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has a wonderful tool that creates an early detection plan for each woman. It is a free tool that will send you reminders for monthly self-exams, mammograms and much more. Visit their site and on the right side of the page there is a pink "Create your plan" icon. It is free and only takes a couple of minutes to complete.
Visit nationalbreastcancer.org today and create your personalized early detection plan!

I read that most cancers can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. I think tests and early detection are important but a lifestyle that prevents cancer is even more important. Do you think most women focus enough on this? I don't think they do.

Actually, a healthy lifestyle only reduces a person's risk of getting cancer. Many healthy people have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer. There are many factors involved such as environment, age, weight, family history, etc.

My mom's best friend has had it and her 4 daughters (who I was very close to growing up) all got it so you're right family history has a lot to do with it.

One of my clients is dealing with this again right now. Her sister died of breast cancer in her 30's. Her other sister had it last year and that sister's son had some form of cancer as well and now their mother is dying of lung and adrenal cancer.

So you're right it can't always be prevented but I do think lifestyle choices can make a big difference for so many who don't have family histories like this.

I've been surrounded by cancer these last few years. Every client I've worked with has either had a relative with it and two of my clients have had it. It's scary.

Cancers of all kinds are on the rise. Sadly, most people do not change their lives until they find out they have cancer!

Even though diet and excercise does not cure cancer, it sure does lower a person's risk significantly. In addition, a healthy lifestyle prevents many other diseases.

My hopes is that women will make a new year's resolution to be proactive with self-breast exams!
