I don't know if I'm having a boy or a girl yet. I just want some opinions. If it's a boy, my husband wants to name him after his dad Boyd and I have several problems with that! I don't like the idea of naming my baby after someone who is still alive because it gets confusing, especially if they have the same first and last name. I also really don't like the name Boyd. My husband agreed that we could call him by his middle name, which would be Ethan but I am still not completely satisfied. Is it ok to veto my husband on that? If it is a girl, I like the name Samantha (and we would call her Sam) and my husband likes the name Jaimey. Either way her middle name would be Ann. Which name do you like better?

Ideally, both parents ought to agree on a name. So if you're not okay with either Boyd or Ethan, I think a different solution would be best.

Maybe, since Boyd comes from his side of the family, you could choose a new middle name from your side of the family. Something you like more than Ethan.

Or, maybe you could add a second middle name that you prefer to both Boyd and Ethan.

Or, maybe you could bump Boyd down to middle and choose an entirely different first name. (Because sometimes calling a person by their middle name can be confusing.)

I like both of those girl names, but I prefer Samantha because it's the standard spelling.

I'd also use Boyd as a middle name, and then you can decide together on a first name you both like.

For a girl I prefer Samantha above Jaimey, but I don't really like the combination Samantha Ann, because of the double 'a' in the middle..
