We are having such a good time on the History Word Association game. Coming up with some really obscure and funny things. To keep those brain juices flowing I'm putting out an Historical Acrostic for us to have fun with.

Here is how it works: I'll give you the foundation for the acrostic. You need to provide a word or small phrase that relates to the foundation word and begins with a foundation letter that is available. Here is an example:

Henry VIII
Inquisition
Spanish Armada
Troy
Oregon Trail
Red October
Y - this letter is open so you would fill it in.

If this does not make sense let me know.

Here is the current Acrostic:

A
G
A
M
E
M
N
O
N

Enjoy! smile

I re-read your directions & it seems like you are asking that letter have a new entry. Thus building the acrostic vertically. I originally thought you were looking for the various results & I added in phrases that were associated with the acrostic base... oops?

Atreus of Mycenae (father)
Greece
Achaean Commander at Troy
George Shipway, authored Warrior in Bronzenovel about Agagmemnon
Mycenae Throne
Electra (daughter)
Murdered by wife, Clytemnestra, &/or her lover, Aegisthus
Noble King & Warrior
Odyssey accounts for his murder upon returning from Troy
Not on friendly terms with Achilles

Correct.

Now, we need someone to fill in the A or another letter.

Second time for wife & I; I could've gone elsewhere, but was traveling with good friends who wanted to see the Sun King's abode. Too richly adorned & arrogant by my meager standards.

Whoops. A few postings ago, in copying the acrostic, somehow I lost the 'I' in Versailles. I've put it back in and supplied a word for it.

"The" for the middle name! LOL. Great, Beetle. I see we have different takes on the same word, but your comment on the bottom was priceless. I'm learning a lot from these games - and having a good laugh sometimes too!

I realize that I'd have to get up early to beat you! And we've already turned our clocks back, so even less likely.

BTW I decided it was time we had an astronomy game too, in order to broaden everyone's education even further!

Hey we could 'take it up a notch' & 'BAM' have a lot more fun... More than what appears to be a generic history lesson

Atlas' Island by Greek legends
Timaeus - in which Plato describes Atlantis in terms of a utopian society
Legendary Utopia
Antediluvian World - title given in the 1800's referring to it being a very ancient civilization
Newton - Sir Isaac wrote of it in his The Chronology of Ancient Kingdoms
Thompson, Edward Herbert & other 19th Century Mesoamerican scholars theorized & proposed that Atlantis was somehow related to Mayan & Aztec cultures
Island - duh?!? Maybe use: Ignatius L. Donnelly - wrote 'Atlantis: the Antediluvian World' in the late 19th century, theorized that all ancient civilizations were descended from Atlantis
