The early Renaissance started in Florence. There were many great strides made by many great people. Some of those were Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo de'Medici.

Here is an article on the early Renaissance

I love this period. Read a fiction account several years ago of how Michelangelo supposedly got his start. Complete fantasy but the cool part was the accurate portrayal of the birth.

Great piece!

The Renaissance is fascinating. The birth of the great arts was then .... and many less savory parts of history. I'm reading a fictional book about diVinci's mother now. Medicis were so important and the religious history in Italy (and Europe) was frightening and fascinating.

I enjoyed the article. I agree that the time period is complex and fascinating! It would be fun to be able to time travel to then and see what it was really like.

I've never been a big history buff, but I just love the Renaissance and everythin about it. This is something I enjoy researching. There is always something new to discover from that time period.
