I caught the last half of this show last night and it was very interesting. They have finally gotten around to investigating and testing the multiple migration theory, and people at the Smithsonian are involved. YEAH! I had never heard of the possible connections between the Cherokee and the "Lost Tribe of Isreal." DNA tests were done on a relatively small sample of members of the Central Cherokee. The program stated the Eastern Cherokee of NC were interested in this. The Japanese connection to South America was fascinating. It got started with marked similarities in pottery realized by a local resident who collected shards.

I'm hoping they replay this. I can't wait to see the whole show.

Here is a link to Native Languages and their interpretation of the lost tribes of Israel:

Lost Tribes of Israel and Native Americans

I have read about the lost tribes and find many different thoughts/theories on the subject - yet it is all very interesting. I would really like to see the show you saw, lcp. What is the name of the documentary?

The Japanese connection is very probable. In the 1920's a cave was discovered in the Grand Canyon. This cave is enormous and contains several different rooms, all filled with artifacts from Asian countries dating back to prior to the great Egyptian Kings. There is a debate on whether or not this discovery was real or an April Fool's joke. It is interesting, though. I will try to find a link to that story.

What I found so interesting about this "Asian cave" discovery is that it ties in with the Hopi Emergence stories and how they traveled on water after the great flood through a canyon with very high walls before they were able to climb up to the Third World. I have got to research that again. Part of the Hopi stories is about a lost brother who has one of the Sacred Tiles of the Hopi and this is believed to be in Tibet -- which is actually directly opposite the "center of the world" in the ancient Hopi pueblos.

The Japanese connection was also established through testing of remains in South America. There is a unique and rare virus, linked to luekemia, thought to be only in the southwestern Japanese population. It is only spread through human contact. This virus showed up in the dried bone marrow of mummies from the west coast of South America. Mitochondrial DNA testing is underway to verify the link, and they are looking for more human remains on an island down there for further testing.

The show also mentions the Chumash People(sp) on the islands off California and their ties to Asian descent.

I think the name of the show is "Who Really Discovered America" and it was on the History Channel. I need to check the website for future airing dates and times.

I briefly caught the end of the airing previously mentioned. I was passing through the houseafter working in the yard & heard 'Cherokee'. That was enough to spark my interest to watch the portion on the Bat Creek Rock & the DNA testing for possible links to Israel tribes.

Will need to catch a re-show.
