;0) Some people are behind in the trending going on.

It used to be the side wispy bang. Now it is the more heavy blunt bang that travels across the whole forehead. It can be parted or swept to the side to give a difference, but it's the heavy blunt which is in vogue now.

It pays to stay up on the trends and to sometimes be ahead of the trends.

heehee, yes, true on the trends.

What I had in mind was the lovely bang look Anne Hathaway sported in The Devil Wears Prada. Instead what I got looked like that "use a curling iron to fluff your wispy bangs under, and spray with product" look from high school. I was a little appalled.

I realize this is totally my fault for not explaining what I wanted. I will remember your words for the next time I sally forth and try something new. smile

Trends? Is there something as "classic" haircuts that never go out of style?

There are many different classic haircuts. THere is the pixie, the bob, the off the shoulder layered hair, the long and luxerious.

As for bangs there is the forehead wide blunt heavy bang, the thin and wispy, the sidepart, the swept sideways.

Hey Jase!

I have had that little "bob" in some way shape or form going on for as long as I care to remember with the very long side bang, though it is a great haircut for my baby fine bone straight hair, ya know how you yearn for change~

Well I wanted to look a bit younger and went and got a bang!!!!Yes I just did it and you know it makes my face look less heavier and (dare I say) sexier!! I got compliments like what am I doing is it the color? Nope secret bangs!

An old chick doing bangs should be a no-no, no?

There is never a no no really with "age". THere are "ageless" looks, but bangs are for everyone in some form or another.

well I like it! Bangs! (said to the tone of Molly Shannon's character I'm 50! 50 years old!)

Nah they look good it lightened the heaviness of the hair there,(these are not cleopatra by any means)but it was funny needing a change but a subtle one.

I recently got the most disastorous bang cut. I have a front collick and explained this to the girl who cut my bangs, and I told her I wanted her to just cut them straight across and I ended up with razored bangs. Which now seperate at the collick and go all differant directions. I usually wear either blunt bangs, a thick side sweep or Bettie Page bangs. Grow out, cursed razor bangs, you're ruining my life! I look better in bangs because I have a BIG forehead, but I frequently shove them up into a barrette because they annoy me in my face.

Jillian,

sounds like she didn't take enough hair from behind your blasted cowlick. The razoring should only have put texture in the very end unless she improperly used the razor and took out the heaviness of the bang, which would defeat the blunt heavy bang to control the cowlick.

Alice,

What type of bangs are you getting that you feel you have to put them up because they get in the way? Have you considered that if you want bangs you might have to stop into the salon for just a bang trim every 3-4 weeks so it might not coincide with the rest of your hair trimming schedule.
