The Lakers are interested in Artest and may even be interested in swapping Lamar Odom for him. More on this article here:

Well I agree with what one Laker GM said when he said there is always a risk with Artest, in referencing his erratic behavior. (I'm still having flashbacks of the Indiana/Detroit fight.) I think the Lakers are pulling at straws right now because they didn't go further in the finals. But giving up Odom is not a good move. In my opinion, Odom is more valuable to the franchise than gaining a player like Artest. That trade seems like a big gamble.

You are right Deb, it is a gamble and hopefully it won't come back to bite them in the butt.

I have to agree with both of you, It looks like a move that says "well we have to do something to make it look like we are making a move for the better" I think they better rethink their options.

It sounds like the Lakers are unwilling to give up Odom for Artest afterall, according to resent news. I guess they DID rethink their options. I have a new respect for the thought-process of the Laker organization. I know Phil Jackson can tame a bad boy, afterall Dennis Rodman used to be on his roster, but who needs the headache when the Lakers are trying to rebuild a former championship-level team. Just my humble opinion.
