Hi,
We just transferred some iTunes songs from an HP desktop to a Dell laptop via jump drive. Some of the songs, even though they show up in the iTunes library on the laptop, have a "!" next to them, and when we try to play them, an error pops up and says the original files were lost. The computer is authorized to play the songs. We tried transferring them again, but they still won't play. Any ideas?

Often it's a directory problem with this.

Try right clicking on the song in iTunes and look very closely at the file location it thinks it should have. Are you sure it is 100% the exact same file name and location as where the file actually is?

Ah, there's the problem. It's trying to find the song on the jump drive. I guess it never really loaded to the hard drive. Weird. Now we just need to re-load the songs & to make sure they go to the right place! Thanks, Lisa! smile
