CHeck it out and let me know what you think? Am I reading too much into it or am I on track?

I've got to go see the movie - but it seems like there would be TONS of movies to protest if not having a gay character in the list were a criteria.

As far as Avatar is concerned I think it was a stunning movie � great entertainment value. Frankly, with every group on the earth finding fault for being excluded in something, or for that matter included when they don�t want to be. I am surprised that PETA�s Ingrid Newkirk didn�t have a nasty protest. Maybe, just maybe we are taking something beautiful and reading far too much into it? Perhaps if fights were picked more carefully and focused everyone would make more headway. Maybe, the protestors are making something beautiful out of what should be love and turning it into something dark.

On the lack of representation of lesbians, I am a lesbian and am not really bothered. I think perhaps you are making more of it than it deserves

I am not making anything of it.. I think those who have organized the protests are ;-)

How about the fact that all the alien aboriginals except, for two of the main characters, were black actors and actresses. And all the humans, with the exception of one latin girl, were all white actors and actresses

Ah, this kind of thing really grates on me because I think it can often be pretty counter-active. Avatar was a great movie; I'm a lesbian, and if I judged every movie on its homosexual content I'd be chronically disappointed. I was about to say this is making a mountain out of a molehill, but it's not even a molehill. So, in answer to your question; No, I really don't think you're on the right track and definitely reading too much into it!
