We had to take our kitty in yesterday morning. She was worse and we knew it way time. My husband and I were with her when the Vet gave her the shot. It was very quick for her. Not so for us. We were both in tears.

Kim, my heart aches for you. I can't imagine the pain you are experienceing, but remember she's not in pain or sick anymore. My friends had two dogs from the same litter, one passed at 13 the other at 15. It took a while for the second one to adjust to being alone but it will happen. Just love your little furball as much as you can because she needs you now to help her through losing her sister as much as you need her. God bless you.

Lynne, it's as hard to lose a loved pet as a loved one. Pets become a true part of our families. I'm glad you had your husband there, support is important at a time like that.

And so I begin my first week without her.

I can't believe I took her in one week ago today. All that has happened in the past 7 days hasn't really sunk in yet. We're still shocked that she is gone.

The weekend was hard. It was the first time we were home for big block of time without her. We had a Christmas party yesterday (planned a long time ago, obviously) that we went through with anyway. As we were getting ready, I missed Brandy jumping up on all the dining room chairs that were moved to the living room, and things like that. She was always in the middle of everything. Literally.

No tears so far today. Maybe it will be the first day in a week that I DON'T cry. We'll see. The grief comes in waves, sometimes out of the blue.

Kim, crying is a good way to release the stress you're feeling. And the grief will take a long time to subside. I lost a dear friend to suicide back in April and I still get waves of grief that bring tears. Let the tears flow and hold your remaining kitty close to your heart.

Lynne, I am so sorry that you had to put your kitty down, too. I know how hard it must have been for you, and Kim, too. I am still babying Kelly and hoping that she can stay comfortable and happy through the holidays.

Bless all of you with peace and happiness this Christmas.
