At this time of year, many department stores offer gifts you can purchase that also give a portion of proceeds to charity. Have you done any holiday shopping like this? I know of some, but I would love to hear about the charitable merchandise programs that you participate in. Let's talk about it here.

If I have a chance to buy something that gives twice, I do it. On the internet, I always shop with GoodShop. You choose your charity and then click on any store in the shop, which donates a portion of the purchase to your cause. It costs nothing to do. I downloaded their tool bar and it tells me automatically if an online store donates.

There are just about any store you'd ordinarily buy from like Amazon, Kohls, Pennys, Barnes and Noble and lots more.

They also have goodsearch too where if you do your searches through their search engine, they donate a penny per search.

Greetings all, I just spoke with my daughter, this morning, as she was writing a donation request letter on behalf of her local Head Start Program. I would just like to remind everyone, when we all become charitable with the holiday season, as well as last call for tax deductible donations, EDUCATION - is not just a gift, it's an investment that will gift for generations to follow. While a toy for a child will put a smile on one child's face, a donation to your local Head Start Program will put a smile on an entire classroom. Call your local Head Start and find out what they need. Perhaps your small donation, combined with your ability to encourage others to match your donation could provide their office with a new computer, playground equipment, kitchen supplies, classroom necessities - or...? Thank you Tricia for bringing up the topic! National Head Start Association (NHSAorg) You are Joy! Joyfully, Janet

Don't forget low income diabetics- often food pantries do NOT provide low glycemic/low carb foods for type one and type 2 diabetics. Sugarfree cookies, Decaf coffee, sugarfree cocoa- these are just a few special items that don't spike the body's insulin levels.
Make Christmas special for a diabetic this week!
