Hi, Angie. Yes, wrapping can be a hassle, but if your project looks okay, you probably did it just fine. Here are a couple of photos that might help. You can use chain nose pliers and round nose pliers together to make a wrapped bead loop like I've done in these photos.
Since I'm right-handed, I'll grip the wire or headpin with round nose pliers in my left hand. Then I'll grab the wire with chain nose pliers (that have that rough interior surface you can grip with) in my right hand and use it to wrap the wire back around its stem as I've done in the photos.
I try to keep the loops smoothly stacked on top of each other and I do no more than 2 or 3 at the most. I keep my wire cutters sharp so I can cut the wire easily and cleanly rather than have to struggle and bend it. Then I use the chain nose pliers to press the excess bit into the wire stem. In the photos, I've done a better job with the pearl bead than with the clear blue bead. Hope this helps!
