We had 9 of our 11 girls yesterday, but our infield still wasn't useable, so we had to keep practice limited to the outfield.

We worked on batting stations, relay throws, and outfield relays (again), so everyone on the team has gone over relay throws and outfield relays. We finished up with a game of over-the-line and then softball-football.

Wednesday is our light turnout day, so we may finish practice early tonight.

Wednesday is a low turnout day, and we only had 4 girls last night. We took some infield practice and then played a scrimmage game hitting off the tee. I used brothers and parents for ghost-runners when a batter would get a base hit.

It's looking more and more certain that Friday is going to be our last practice -- we're still the only 12U team signed up for this tournament, and while I would love to see our girls compete against other 12U rec teams, I worry that the tournament will just bunch us with older teams and thus setting our girls up for certain failure no matter how well they play.

Since this is the case, the focus at practice the past couple of days has been more on keeping practices fun than skills development. If Friday is our last day of practice, we may have a parent vs. player game and then a pizza party to wrap up the season.

Well, we pulled the plug on the team Friday. As far as I'm concerned, we were the 12U champions (since we were the only 12U team signed up).

We played a Parent vs. Player scrimmage, then had pizza and sodas to finish the season.

Hopefully next year we'll have better luck picking a tournament that can support a 12U rec tournament. It was still worth doing -- the girls got a month of good practice, and I learned a few things that I'll apply to the Spring season.

Thanks for reading!
