thought I'd share a funny story that made me feel really fortunate. I sometimes talk on the phone with the artistic director of the dance studio I work at. She has young children.Every few minutes or so she has to change rooms because of the noise level and constant screaming/fighting going on between her kids. She doesn't seem to get that mad. I feel so distracted and actually get a headache from the noise level! I feel like if you can't give your attention to a phone conversation at a certain time, it might be best to talk later. So I said, " do you want to call me later, it sounds like you really have your hands full." No, this is what my house sounds like all everyday." she said. COULD YOU IMAGINE LIVING IN AN ENVIRONMENT LIKE THAT?

Some people just aren't bothered by the noise of children or other people.

My in laws are the same way. The noise just doesn't bother them and it drives me insane. I come from a family who appreciates peace and quiet so I don't understand it at all.

Others just get used to it I guess. Personally I couldn't do it. I think my husband makes enough noise for the both of us and that's more than I can handle.

NO, I can't imagine living in an environment like that!!!! It would drive me nuts! Like you missitalia, I get a headache whenever I hear a baby/kid cry/scream. I feel so sorry for the poor mothers that have to endure that. I don't think they don't mind, they just have no choice but to accept it and deal with it. What's the point of complaining? What will that bring? More misery?

I can't either, because I know it would drive me absolutely bananas! When my brother and I were growing up, my mother said that there were times when she actually appreciated the fact that she is partially deaf. If we made too much noise, she could just lower the volume on her hearing aid. :-) (Of course, this was just when we were home; in public we usually weren't allowed to make too much noise.)
