Looking for resources for aging Dad. Veteran, living on Social security. Will not live with family. What's a daughter to do?

Do you live nearby? Is he able to cook for himself and live alone? You might look into a Meals on Wheels set up if he isn't eating right. At least someone will check on him when they deliver the meals.

There are programs he can get into also that provide someone to clean and look in on the elderly. My sister got her mother-in-law on one of those and she had only Social security to live on.

It's very difficult to see all this happening. My parents are in their 80's and still living alone together but my two sisters live nearby and can drop in. When my dad had his hip replacement, I came and stayed with them for a few weeks as I live out of state.

Check with a senior or community center near your dad and see if they know of programs offered to help in your situation. His doctor's office also may know of something.
