Yep ... can you imagine a less likely place for a State Capital in this day and age? Juneau. Sheesh! Admittedly, it was (big emphasis on "was") the central hub of activity early on, but you'd think they would have thought a little further ahead. Juneau can only be reached by air or boat (usually the Alaska Marine Hwy System's ferries).
There is no way at all of getting TO our Legislators other than by telephone, email or snail mail. Most of us (the general population of Alaska) are pretty sure they (the Legislators) WANT it to stay that way, in spite of the extra expense and inconvenience.
Had Sarah been able to stay in office for another term, I'm guessing the capital would have finally gotten moved to south central Alaska. As it is, we will see.
