Hi, I thought this should be posted as I have never heard of this before. Blepharitis started to take my eye sight away, but then after being treated, it is much better.

Blepharitis: A condition where bacteria inflames the eye, which can lead to "pink eye" (which is contagious). There is no cure and one is stuck with it for life.

Below our upper lashes and above our lower lashes are where we have oil glands. These oil glands is what keeps our eyes moist.

But, Blepharitis inflames the area with the extra bacteria and plugs up the oil glands. Then the eyes are bone dry and burn like fire. The vision of the eyes get blurry and "pink eye" can result from it. This happened to me.

Treatment/No Cure: 3 times a day one must get a washcloth in moderately hot water and place it on your eyes for 5 mins. and do this for about 20 mins. for 3x's a day. This gets the oil glands to unplug and gets the moisture working again. Then, and I know this sounds crazy, but it works...Take baby shampoo and really scrub your eyes, and especially above and under the eyelash area. Then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Then apply "Soothe" eyedrops. "Soothe" can only be provided by prescription. It helps the moisture in your eyes to get back to normal again.

It took me 3 weeks to achieve that.

Remember....3x's a day with washcloth
Each time after washcloth..clean with baby shampoo
Use Soothe Eyedrops.

If you have symptoms of burning eyes, itching eyes, pink eyes, terrible blurriness where you can't focus, go and see your eye ophamalagist. You can loose your eye sight if not treated correctly.

That sounds like a condition my son had when he was a baby!

His opthamologist also taught me how to make tiny mini-Q-tips with cotton balls and toothpicks so I could gently scrub his lashes two or three times a day. I remember they put him in a papoose board (like a baby strait jacket!)and five or six people held him down while they put in some special kind of eyedrops.

The doctor's office was about an hour away from home, and when he explained that I would be putting the eyedrops in three times a day, I said, "OK, what times would be convenient for you all to come down to my house?"

My son didn't give me a bit of trouble when we got home, tolerated the scrubbing and eye drops but *loved* the warm washcloths.

Just recently I have had symptoms you describe - I visited a new eye doctor (to us) and he told me my eyes were dry because I did not close my eyes all the way when I blink! I thought it was more likely that I did not close them all the way when I sleep, but I believe I do that ok, too.

I have been using the eye drops without preservative in them that come in tiny plastic vials, expensive even at Costco, but believe I will give your remedy a try. Thank you!

I've recently been dx'd with this darned ailment, although I've had it for A YEAR! Didn't know what it was and neither did any the six doctors I went to... finally a friend suggested seeing an Opthalmalagist and he knew what it was.

The doctor said it can become chronic and mine has. But I'm determined to get rid of it.

Luckily, I don't have any of the crusty/flakey stuff. Only redness/pinkness on my lower rims and eyelids. I did the hot compresses for ten minutes, 2 times/day for about 6 weeks. (He said to do it 3 times, but I had trouble fitting that 3rd one in my schedule...) Then afterwards I massaged the lower rims to try to release some of the oil, as he said to, and then wiped the rims with a clean q-tip. Never saw any oil or white stuff.

Also he said not to wear my contacts anymore because of having dry eyes. However, I didn't notice a problem with my eyes being dry and I really miss my contacts! (I'm very farsighted.)

Do the drops really help? Do they help with the redness? I always look like I've been crying and I can't use make-up to cover it up. That's the part that bugs me the most.

He said I didn't have to use the baby shampoo but I think I'll try it anyway. I just want this to go away...

basically I am a chronic Blepharitis sufferer and I have been doing some research to come up with the cause of my problem and I would appreciate if you could let me know what you think about my ideas

So.. There is evidence that Blepharitis is linked to Rosacea (e.g. there is an article on the main page ofBellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. If you don't know how to do UBB code just post here for help - we will help out!

Hello, I have the cure for blepharitis. No drugs, it is a permanent fix and no recurring. Fixed in one day's time and you're back to normal. $5,000
