You will probably find a million different answers to this question.

It doesn't matter if you are adopting a newborn or an older child, everyone will have an opinion as to when to get the child's nursery or room ready.

Some people will say, "No, you can't do that...what if something falls through?"

Others will say, "Go for it!"

I think the most important thing for each parent to do is see what feels right. What feels most comfortable is usually a good route to go.

Now, if you and your spouse are split between whether or not to decorate ahead of time, that can get a little tricky.

Taking each other's feelings into consideration is important.

If one really wants to break out the furniture, clothes, toys, book, etc., but the other wants to wait...compromise!

Perhaps you can start small, such as painting the room where the baby or child's room will be.

Or, maybe you could each pick out your favorite childhood book and place it on a special shelf, knowing that you'll be reading it to your child.

Whether you decorate the nursery or child's room right away, or take baby steps, it will be just right in the end! smile
