I just bought some nutritional yeast for a tofu recipe and am looking for more ways to use it. I like the flavor and am in dire need of its high b-12 content!

I have popcorn on the shopping list already, but anyone have any other easy ways or good recipes for it?

Lisa, that sounds great! I'll certainly try it next time I have rice. The avocado--genius!

Hey Deb!

I've been meaning to answer this one for a moment now... Try incorporating your nutritional yeast into a great veggie ranch, creamy caesar, or a nice honey mustard style dressing and have it over a hearty salad.

Although I don't oftentimes use the nutritional yeast I have incorporated it in these applications in the past for that extra added nutritional boost to those dressings, and a hike in flavor. Because of its nutty, cheesy flavor it lends itself well to cream type sauces and dishes.

The only thing you'll want to do is if you're adding it to a dish that has to be cooked, wait 'til the very end of cooking to add [once the heat is off in order to preserve as much of its nutritional value as possible].

Hope this helps.

Let me know. smile

Love the idea of adding it to ranch dip! I will try that soon with carrots/celery or on my next big salad.

And, thanks for the tip about adding it last with cooking. I do want to keep the nutritional value as well as that great taste.

Also add it to smoothies. That works out great!

I prefer it in the creamy ones with ripe bananas.

I sprinkle it on popcorn. For some reason it has a really cheesy taste on popcorn.

I used to mix it in V8 or tomato juice too every day.

These recipes here sound yummy!

I love the taste, i don't use it in recipes, I sprinkle it on everything, pasta dishes, soups... I use it pretty much where others would use grated cheese.

I like to make Ramen noodles - with the yucky packet o' MSG thrown out and the water drained off - and add olive oil, dried dill, and nutritional yeast, when I need a carb-boost (a night before a very exercise-y day, for example).
