I've been doing a major "spring cleaning" during the middle of winter and have cleaned out quite a few of my closets so far. In every closet was a huge stack of magazines.

Have you ever picked up an old magazine and all of a sudden and it's like looking at it for the first time and you have to sit and re-read the articles that made you buy the magazine in the first place?

The best way to tackle it is to cut out the articles that you want to keep, punch holes in it and put it in a binder - organized by topic (for example, weight loss or recipes). That way I can pitch the rest of the magazine and get rid of closet clutter and keep just the articles of interest.
It also helps me to stop procrastinating by sitting down and reading while cleaning - or worse, still keeping all of the magazines.
This works for me!!! Has anyone else tried this?

I have the same problem, saved a year of Better Homes nnd gardens and the same with Money and all my health mags. I save articles and have them in a few folders, have not yet taken it to the next step with hole punching and super organizing, but great ideas for me to emulate. Thanks

I find that every year my kids had perfectly good, seldom used binders that work wonderfully or at work whenever I attended a training or a seminar I had a lot of binders that were perfect for recycling into an article binder.

Article binders are a great way to store info you've torn out of magazines and are fairly sure you'll refer to again. There are certain recipes and articles I've ripped out of magazines that I return to again and again, and it's great to have them in an easily accessible format like a binder.

I've also discovered that almost every recipe or article I might want to refer back to is available online. If it's the *contents* of the article (rather than the format or the accompanying pictures) I'm most interested in, I'll often find it online and bookmark it so I can quickly get back to it when I need it.

I agree wholeheartedly with "save the article". It is so much easier to organize and it saves tons of space!

I have one thrift store that takes and sells old magazines, and I also make a point to drop off magazines at dr offices, my therapist's office, tire and oil changing places, and other waiting room situations.

I also have one used book store that buys select magazines.
