Should the Republican minority in the Senate and Congress play along with the Democrats and not "rock the boat"? And in so doing they appear in fact complicit with this planned spending spree the government seems bent on doing under the guise of jump starting the flagging economy? Or should the Republicans show some fiscal restraint, guts and responsibility by speaking up even at the risk of being branded as "killjoys," "obstructionists," or "sticks in the mud"?

I think no matter what party a Senator or representative is with, he or she is there to speak the minds of the state they represent! So being quiet is not an option.

You do not have to stand in the way of something in order to have your voice be heard. If they disagree, they at least needs to say so. Great decisions often come of finding unique compromises.

Republicans hear! Hear! - Michelle is exhorting you to speak up. It is as it should be that discussions be held on matters as grave and impactful as deficit spending as well as national security. Compromises can come only after substantive discussion but not way before and certainly not until all sides have been heard. Thanks Michelle for posting.

No, the republicans should not play along with the Democrats. They need to take a stand and be true to themselves and the people they're representing. I agree with Michelle that they need to make their voice heard and TALK about things!
